Is the Indian Left on China’s secret payroll?

The attitude of the Indian left is amazing. Never have I seen a more hypocrite organization. Their chief ministers in Kerala and West Bengal are going out of their way to lure in capitalist investments. They go abroad and compete intensely with other states to woo foreign investors and foreign tourists to their states. But when it comes to the centre, they oppose anything remotely capitalist…their latest stance at the Indo-US nuclear deal agonizes me to the limit of my tolerance…!!

The opposition of the left is not borne out of rationality, but on arrogance and adamancy. It is not borne out of care and regard for the nation, but out of petty political gains. No far-sight, not even short-electoral gains, just egotism. Ours is a country thats desperately seeking energy resources. To sustain our growing economy, at the same time keep the environment safe, we need to go nuclear. The US produces 20% of its electricity by nuclear energy. This deal was a boon for us Indians (barring a few exceptional clauses, which could have been ironed out), since no member of the NSG is currently ready to give us nuclear fuel for running our civilian nuclear reactors. Without the nuclear fuel, India wouldnt be able to reach its target power generation by 2020, according to the Atomic Energy Commision director Dr. Anil Kakodkar.

That means more power cuts, more pollution, reduced industrial production targets and stifled growth rate. So what options do we have…how many more coal-fired/gas-fired power plants? How many more hydroelectric projects? Is anyone seriously going after wind and solar? What will the effects be on the environment? No answers to these questions…

I simply dont understand WHY the Left is opposing the nuclear deal. Agreed, till those “treacherous” clauses are ironed out, we shouldnt sign the bill. But the Left refuses to do even that?!! Here’s a recent article on HindustanTimes, with the title:

Left not to allow even India-specific accord with IAEA

In this article, AP Bardhan says:

“If they are so concerned about energy security, what about the (Iran-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline. Why are you (government) dragging your feet? If you are really keen on energy security, you should be keen on the gas pipeline also,” Bardhan said.

Asked about Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remark that the deal would help India come out of the nuclear aparthied, Bardhan said “there is no question of us getting out of this apartheid, unless America, which has created this apartheid, gets us out of it.”

This is so disgusting. This is opposition for the sake of opposition. I havent seem them come up with one decent, rational argument as to why the nuclear deal should be sanctioned, unlike the BJP, which has specifically laid down its concerns.

I sometimes wonder if the Indian Left is on the payroll of Chinese/Russian intelligence agencies. Think about it. This is not entirely impossible. The Mitrokhin Archives told us a lot, and more of things that happened in the 1970s and the 1980s, wherein most of the intelligence “encroachment” was effected by the KGB of the then communist Russia into the Indian Left (For more, read this article by respected Indian journalist and ex-minister Arun Shourie). The same might be happening now, its a highly possible scenario. China has every interest in de-stabilizing the Indo-US nuclear deal. It wants Sikkim, it wants parts of Arunachal Pradesh, its encroaching on Siachen, its overshadowing our economy, it gives clandestine support of all sorts to Pakistan…there is no reason why China shouldnt be a bigger player in this, than the Indian Left…using the Indian Left would be a pretty neat way to stifle the potential competition, without publicly saying a word!

I seriously think this should deserve an independent, media investigation….If you think so too, please forward this view to as many people you know, or start a petition or something, so that someone in the media takes a peep into it…
