China blocks access to iTunes library!!

As the story goes, China has blocked access to the millions of songs in the iTunes library because some athletes downloaded songs from an album called Songs for Tibet. Downloaders in China get the screen below thanks to the ‘Great Firewall of China’. Well, great going, China for all the Olympic gold medals, but if your intention was to show your arrival on the world stage, I am not sure how many points you get for it.

Everybody’s free to wear sunscreen

A beautiful, inspirational song directed by Baz Luhrmann, the acclaimed director of movies like Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet. This song, written by Mary Schmich, was published as a column in Chicago Tribune in 1997 titled Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young“. It has been sung by Lee Perry and Quindon Traver. One of the most popular songs of all times, it became a sort of an urban legend. Some people even sourced it wrongly to it being an MIT commencement speech, but thats just a hoax. For more information on the song and the lyrics, click here.

This song, in some ways, is similar to the Obama music video, a lyrical manifestation of the “Yes we can!” speech, which is currently a rage on the internet. Both are inspirational to the hilt, make you want to do something. As Mary Schmich says in the video above, “Everyday do something that scares you“…something like that…
